Creativity and Teamwork
Today’s most successful businesses are embracing innovation, adaptability and change within a fast-moving global economy. The world of jazz provides an excellent musical illustration of this new corporate environment.
In the Jazz Experience, participants are seated in a circle around a live jazz band. The session begins with a short performance, giving participants an opportunity to listen, observe and reflect on how jazz musicians improvise and innovate within clear parameters, take risks, embrace diversity, rotate leadership and seek new opportunities through entrepreneurship.
Using a series of carefully crafted exercises during which several participants are given the opportunity to play with the band, Dominic Alldis leads an interactive discussion about how the attitude of jazz musicians provides an excellent model for today's corporate player.
The Jazz Experience can also include an interactive percussion workshop.
In 2010-11 London Business School engaged Music & Management to provide a series of jazz events for their Senior Executive Development Program. It focused on the special skills required to be a successful jazz musician - flexibility, speed of response, improvising within minimal structures, alternating between 'soloing' and 'supporting' roles, accommodating of errors and rotating leadership.
"The jazz vision is dead right for today’s organizations. Compelling, engaging and applicable to creative business, Dominic Alldis is a master of management insight through music..." Professor Nigel Nicholson, London Business School
